What heat treating the welds does to your product:
As a required code specification on pressure piping, heat treating the welds makes them softer, increasing the integrity of the steel so it’s not brittle. When pieces are welded at a high temperature the chemical make up of the metal changes at such a rapid pace the weld loses some of its strength. High pressure product flowing through the piping means the welds must be at optimal strength to withstand it.
On-site vs. delivered product:
GCC does the majority of our PWHT on-site at our customers location, saving them time and hassle of transportation. Larger projects can benefit from on-site heat treatment by staying at their location and ensuring organization stays in tact.
